In our newest series, we’ve brought together two industries - bartending and baking - to uncover the unexpected flavours of Laphroaig 10. Over two episodes, our chosen duo will be journeying around London in the back of a black cab on a mission to create the perfect serve - a soda and nibble that embody, highlight and accentuate the nuanced flavours of this peaty, punchy Islay dram.
In the baking corner is pastry chef, writer and historian Chloe-Rose Crabtree of Stoke Newington’s Bake Street. With over ten years of kitchen experience and an MA from Columbia University in History and Literature, Chloe is multi-disciplined and multi-talented, with a penchant for American-style baked goods and comfort fare, including pies, cakes and the odd Jell-O salad.
Tasked with creating our soda is bartender Jason Candid-Knüsel who, like Chloe, began his hospitality career in the kitchen. Originally from Switzerland, Jason relocated to London in 2018 for a barback role at The Savoy’s American Bar before moving to London’s most anticipated bar opening this year - Side Hustle at The NoMad Hotel.
