WORLD BARTENDER DAY 2023

In a first-of-its-kind project, we want to celebrate bartending as a craft and a lifetime career. We are celebrating all of the inspiring people in our industry who create amazing moments in their local communities. We celebrate you, creators of fantastic experiences! Thanks to your talent and creativity, we can gather together after work, have a home away from home, and cheers to good news. The world wouldn’t be the same without you.

This exciting new project, we will be introducing and celebrating some of the inspiring figures in our industry. Sarath Nair from Copitas Four Seasons in Bangalore, Magdalena Karkosz from Schumann’s bar in Munich, Sarah Proietti from Maybe Sammy bar in Sydney, Emma Alexander CEO & industry consultant from Denver, and Sly Augustin from Trailer Happiness in London - have all shared their personal career stories; how they started in the industry, some of their most special moments, and what keeps them passionate year after year.

To bring these real life tales to life, we have curated an inspiring photography collection.  After all, there are a lot of similarities between bartending and photography. Both require years of skill to hone the technique, patience in the face of learning, a natural ability to make people comfortable, and most of all, tons of creativity.

We’ve partnered with international photographer Jennifer McCord to shine a light on the passion and dedication it takes to make bartending a lifetime career, and the importance of bars within local communities.

Specialising in music, and known for capturing stars including Ellie Goulding and Becky Hill – Jennifer shares a visual representation of the creativity and talent of others through her art. This year she’s helping us to do the same by curating a series of raw, unfiltered portraits of bartenders across the globe.

Commenting on the creative direction, Jennifer said:

“Intimacy and emotion live at the heart of my work, with this project I wanted to create powerful images of the faces behind bars, with a strong narrative that feels true to their energy. Capturing the emotion behind the profession is so important to me, I want people to understand the significance of bartenders in our communities, as this is something that hasn’t been exposed before.”

You can view the exciting digital exhibition of some of our hospitality friends here on The Blend.

What’s more? The exhibition will be touring across the UK, India, Australia, USA, and Germany later this year - raising money for our industry and celebrating all the bartenders across the globe, who dedicate their nights to create truly special moments for their guests.

This World Bartender Day, let’s come together as a community and celebrate the stories, skills and mastery of our industry. If you haven’t already, sign up and meet all the inspiring people we have collaborated with.
